Banking & Financial Services Associate Location Calgary, AB :

Stikeman Elliott LLP, one of Canada's pre-eminent business law firms, is seeking a Banking and Financial Services Associate . As the successful candidate, you will have 2 to 5 years of experience working on general corporate or banking and financial services matters. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high performing group of lawyers.

In this position you will work with a dynamic team of lawyers and gain industry leading experience working with clients on a full spectrum of financing transactions, both Canadian and international. You will enjoy a broad and varied practice in a team oriented and supportive group with support at the junior, mid, and senior levels. You will see a large variety work from complex debt restructurings to equipment leasing and provide strategic and business-oriented advice to Canadian and international clients. Our lawyers have extensive experience as counsel to lenders and borrowers on both domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including with respect to general corporate financings, acquisition financings, subordinate financings, and with issuers and purchasers in connection with debt offerings. You will work with lenders and borrowers in connection with various types of industries, including commercial real estate, energy, oil and gas, construction, technology, and more. You will also gain experience in construction loans, acquisition loans, leasehold financings and mortgage bond financings.

  • a law degree and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta;
  • a desire to do excellent work;

  • excellent interpersonal and client service skills, strong initiative, and the ability to work well on a variety of teams; and
