Job Description - Hospitality Services Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY: The Hospitality Services Coordinator plays a crucial role at the ROM, reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Event Sales. This dynamic position oversees the complete lifecycle of events, from setup to teardown. The Hospitality Services Coordinator maximizes revenue through effective implementation of ROM's Event Sales and our Food and Beverage programs, adhering to the highest standards of service in line with Toronto Board of Health and AGCO guidelines. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee external and internal events at the ROM, ensuring seamless execution from setup to completion, all while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Implement ROM Sales and Beverage Alcohol sales strategies to enhance financial outcomes for the Commercial Enterprises Department - Events Services division.
  • Maintain food and beverage service standards per Toronto Board of Health and AGCO by-laws, contributing to ROM's reputation for excellence.
  • Conduct accurate post-event accounting for beverage consumption, ensuring precise inventory management and financial reporting.
  • Report issues related to banquet inventories and ROM property to the Supervisor, safeguarding the quality of equipment and the integrity of ROM collections and assets.
  • Monitor equipment conditions and the safety of collections, personnel, property, clients, and contractors, exemplifying ROM's commitment to excellence and safety.
  • Address potential client concerns proactively, particularly regarding inappropriate behavior or excessive alcohol consumption, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field from an accredited institution, with a certification in mixology preferred. Equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Current certifications in Responsible Alcohol Service (Smart Serve) and Food Safety (Food Handlers Certificate).
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in hospitality, particularly in event catering, banquet services, or bartending, demonstrating excellence in service delivery within dynamic settings.
  • Proven ability to enhance guest satisfaction and drive revenue while adhering to regulatory compliance for alcohol sales and food service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication across various levels, ensuring clear understanding and execution of event protocols.
  • Effective management of multiple simultaneous priorities within specified timelines.
  • Proficiency in modern digital tools and platforms for word processing and event management, beverage inventory systems, and administration.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed for ROM events and operations.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French, is highly desirable for inclusive communication in a multicultural environment
SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT  START DATE: ASAP

SALARY: $55,826 – $63,800
SCHEDULE: 35 hours weekly
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Six (6) months
