Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) has a clear mandate from the Ontario government. Everything we do aims to improve electrical safety for the public. To do this, we anticipate, understand and prevent electrical-related harms. Please note this is a hybrid work environment. (In-person 3 days per week) Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, this role will participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of budget, forecast and reporting systems and assist in the development of cost centre budgets and analysis. Prepare regular analysis and reports on actual financial results against budgets. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts and document business transactions. Establish, maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures and participate in the development of policies and procedures for the control and distribution of costs to measure cost centre results and to compare one cost centre with another. Recommend, develop and maintain financial databases, computer software systems and manual financial systems. Provide advice and guidance and ongoing assistance to cost centre Management.
General Accountabilities:
Education:
Requires a knowledge of finance, business administration, accounting principles, organization concepts, economics, analytical techniques to analyze and identify the company's financial needs with respect to the analysis of financial information to prepare various accounts. Requires a knowledge of computers and financial information systems participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of the financial systems. Requires good communications skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff in the company and to produce a variety of reports on financial matters. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired in a four-year university education in finance or business administration, or the equivalent education.
Experience:
Requires experience to understand the application of financial and accounting principles to the company's accounting, budgeting and reporting requirements. Requires experience provide advice and guidance on budget analysis, financial and cost controls, financial information systems and accounting procedures. Requires experience to understand the financial, accounting, budget and reporting requirements of the organization and the relationship between the various departments and staff. Requires experience in a consulting role to obtain necessary information and provide effective advice and guidance to staff across the company.
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
