Job Description With reporting responsibility to the Director, Geriatric Services, for Integrated Health Services, the Continuing Care Consultant is responsible for assisting with the provision of consultative services for clients with responsive behaviours across southern Saskatchewan Health Authority (the area previously known as the five southern health regions). The incumbent advises and recommends services that are designed to meet the needs of clients with behavioural and/or psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), acquired brain injury (ABI), developmental challenges, and mental illness. The incumbent provides consultation services for residents in long term care facilities, clients in the community, and patients in the acute care hospitals.
Job Qualifications Required Qualifications - Graduate of an approved Nursing Program. A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized university is an asset, however will consider a combination of experience and education. Currently registered with SRNA or RPNAS.
Experience Must have a minimum of three years of related recent experience in the field of geriatrics, within the past five years, as well as three years' experience working in a long term care setting. The requirement is for direct clinical experience and demonstrated expertise in care delivery to clients with responsive behaviours. Experience in dealing with clients with dementia and in completing cognitive screening.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities - A commitment to ongoing education to remain current in the area of behaviour management.

- Consultation skills and ability to interact with internal and external clients.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, a strong theoretical grounding in the provision of a comprehensive range of services to long term care clients in the management of responsive behaviours.
- Proven ability to work independently.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and network software including word processing, PowerPoint and electronic mail.
- Working knowledge of, and ability to use, databases and spreadsheets.
