Job Description - Continuing Education

RATE: $55.14 per hour FEDERATION AFFILIATION: While performing this position, you are a member of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation representing the District 18 Teachers’ Bargaining Unit. Union dues will apply. To support belonging and connectedness, summer mental health services will be provided through therapeutic groups, which will be co-delivered by Social Workers and community service providers. All groups will be staffed and supervised by UGDSB teachers. As part of our summer mental health and wellness planning, identity-specific mental health supports are prioritized for our Indigenous, Black and 2SLGBTQIA+ students and students referred to specialized teams. Summer mental health supports are meant to be a continuation of service over the summer months and support to transition into a new school year for those currently receiving support from board mental health staff. Groups will be formed based on the grades that the students will be going into in September. Based on enrolment numbers and student need, the summer mental health team will make the final determinations around group services to be offered and final dates. Enrolment volumes may necessitate changing groups and group formations and options.
  • Teachers are required for the following positions during the months of July and August. Teachers will be responsible for following the UGDSB field trip policy and procedures, including the supervision of students on the bus and during the field trip program.

Students in Grade 7-12 will be welcomed in a culturally responsive program to talk about their struggles, affirm each other, be heard and focus on their wellness. This group will give our youth a strong sense of belonging and will take place in person at TUFF Equine Therapy in Loretto, Ontario. Busing will be provided from a centralized location. Grades 7-12. DCAFS Summer Music and Art Therapy Program for students with Neurodiversity Location: DCAFS- 655 Riddell Road Orangeville, Ontario L9W 4Z5 Session 1: July 9, 10, 11th 12:00pm – 3:00pm Session 2: August 20, 21, 22nd 12:00pm - 3:00pm Summer program for students in Grades 6-8 incorporating Music and Art Therapy. Students will be welcomed to build social skills and share experiences as they participate in a therapeutic half day program at Dufferin Child and Family Services. Animal and Farm Assisted Mental Health Therapy for Students at Fiddleheads Care Farm Location: 426059 25 Sideroad, Mono Session 1: July 9,10,11, 2024 12-3pm Session 2: July 23, 24, 25, 2024 12-3pm Session 3: August 6, 7, 8, 2024 12-3pm Session 4: August 20, 21, 22, 2024 12-3pm Fiddlehead Care Farm will offer a therapeutic group to students coping with anxiety and depression, social difficulties and negative self-esteem. Students will connect with the animals and farming process to develop self-confidence, self-regulation skills and explore social connections. Animal Assisted Mental Health Therapy for Students at Sunrise Stables Location: 6920 Concession 1 Puslinch, Ontario Session 1: July 9,10,11, 2024 12-3:00pm Session 2: July 16, 17, 18, 2024 12-3:00pm Session 3: July 23,24, 25, 2024 12-3:00pm Session 4: July 30, 31, August 1, 2024 12-3:00pm Session 5: August 6,7,8, 2024 12-3:00pm Session 6: August 13, 14, 15, 2024 12-3:00pm Animal assisted therapy at Sunrise Stables is for students struggling with anxiety, self regulation and who may be known to specialized teams and other students who may benefit from learning to build social emotional skills, self-confidence and regulation strategies through animal assisted therapy with horses.
