Job Description - Design Architect

Job Captain - Architecture

Location : Hamilton, ON - Southwestern Ontario

Work Type: Hybrid (3 days home); Potentially remote for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of architects and designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Design Leadership: Lead the design process for various architectural projects, ensuring innovative and high-quality design solutions.
  • Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and vision, presenting design concepts and providing updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Portfolio Development: Utilize and expand your design portfolio, showcasing a range of successful projects to attract new clients and business opportunities.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply advanced design principles, building codes, and construction methods to develop practical and aesthetically pleasing architectural solutions.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design and technical elements.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality control reviews of design documents, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve design challenges that arise during project development and construction.
  • Site Visits: Perform site visits to monitor construction progress, address any issues, and ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on project status, design decisions, and any issues encountered, providing regular updates to senior management and clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of successful architectural projects.
  • Extensive experience in architectural design and project leadership.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work hybrid (3 days home) with potential for remote work for the right candidate.
  • Preferably able to come to the office in Ottawa or Hamilton.
