Our client, a local engineering consulting firm for mechanical and electrical building services, is currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis. You will be joining a dynamic team of senior engineers who possess years of industry experience and knowledge. You will be working out of their office in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Role and Responsibilities:with both external project teams and internal design teams to develop the mechanical designs for a variety of buildingsconsultation with clients on initial mechanical engineering designs including options for systems, space planning exercises, and general consultationon technical requirements for mechanical systems from preliminary designs phases thru to project completion including coordinating mechanical services (and other services) for new construction, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, plumbing systems and drainage systems, and other mechanical requirements to suit client standards and building classificationsdesign meetings to represent the mechanical disciplinerelevant equipmentand verifying design calculations for mechanical systemstechnical direction/markups and managing workload to complete projects successfullyand mentorship for intermediate and junior staffthe production of design documentation assigned projects including the presentation of information on drawing sets, coordination of mechanical systems with electrical, architectural, and other disciplines, and contract administration requirementsintermediate and junior staff members to ensure deadlines for projects are met Qualifications:with a 4-year Bachelor Degree in Engineering8 years of mechanical engineering experience in the building service industry.member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) is required.ability to effectively utilize AutoCAD and / or Revit to prepare mechanical design documents.technical knowledge and ability to deliver mechanical designs for a variety of building types, including, but not limited to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing and drainage systems, building automation systems / controls, fire protection systems.with load calculation software such as HAP, or energy modelling software would be an asset.of Canadian and Ontario codes and standards including OBC including SB-1 and SB-4 supplementary standards, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, CSA B149.1, ASHRAE 62.1, and ASHRAE 90.1.ability to lead a team of 3 to 4 mechanical staff in the development and delivery of construction documentation and associated engineering calculations, coordination of mechanical elements, and final verification of mechanical design of multiple projects simultaneously.organizational and time management skills, ability to think analytically, attention to detail, resourceful and detail-oriented, and team and customer service focused.knowledge of electrical, architectural, and structural drawings and systems as it relates to construction and the implications on mechanical designs.to effectively resolve construction issues, manage client expectations, review construction sites, liaise with contractors, and other contract administration requirements.with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.time management skills, ability to think analytically, attention to detail, resourceful and detail-oriented, and team and customer service focused.to effectively resolve construction issues, manage client expectations, review construction sites, liaise with contractors, and other contract administration requirements.If you believe you are a qualified candidate for this position and would like to pursue this opportunity, please apply to this position by sending your resume to [email protected]!
