Job Description - Chef Upscale Casual

Description

  • Uphold the quality and consistency of our core menu, as developed by our chef consultant, ensuring that each dish served meets our exacting standards.
  • Collaborate with the chef consultant and management team on potential menu developments, including the creation of seasonal features and menu enhancements.
  • Manage the kitchen staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and ongoing performance management.
  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen management, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining kitchen equipment.
  • Working with the management team to monitor, manage and report kitchen financials, focusing on labour costs, Cogs, Food and waste costs, to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and within the budget parameters.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
  • Collaborate with the restaurant management team to monitor costs and manage the kitchen budget effectively.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in the kitchen.
  • Create a positive and productive working environment for all kitchen staff.
  • Handle any food preparation duties as necessary.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and a high-quality dining experience.

Requirements

  • Have 3+ years’ experience as Kitchen Manager or Chef ready to take the lead in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, flavor profiles, and current food trends.
  • A passion for creating innovative and visually appealing dishes that tantalize the taste buds.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Experience managing a kitchen team and delegating responsibilities effectively.
  • Skilled with management of inventory, food cost, labour, variable costs, etc
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • A flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
