Job Description - Fairmont Boutique / Coffee shop Supervisor

Located in the heart of Canada's capital next door to the Parliament Buildings, the landmark Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa is looking to fill a role of Fairmont Boutique Supervisor (Full Time).

Fairmont Chateau Laurier new Boutique / Coffee shop  will be located on the Lobby ground and will be a special place to display unique personalized goods and gifts to our clientele, while offering all-day coffee service.  Our Boutique Supervisor lead the effort to exceed expectations, provide exceptional service and display passion for the Fairmont brand. This person will be responsible for conducting strategic business analysis, leading a small team focused on delivering top line sales results and managing controllable expenses. Our boutique Supervisor will be responsible for their own recruitment, talent development, and performance management of their store team.

Our supervisor will also be a qualified barista to better assist the peak period of coffee sales in the boutique.

Reporting to the Director of Rooms division, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.
  • Creating a profitable and sales-driven customer-friendly environment.
  • Accountable for product flow and inventory management.
  • Responsible for product choices and design.
  • Maintain exceptional visual merchandising standards throughout the boutique.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with external and internal partners.
  • Be active in the boutique, providing recommendation to guests
  • Empowers the boutique team to make decisions that align with brand standards, prioritize delivering an exceptional customer experience and always place our customer first.
  • Cultivates an environment centered on an in-depth knowledge of product and promotions to help explain value and build brand loyalty.
  • Train and coach all Team members on products and goals.
  • Motivates and inspires the boutique team to achieve sales goals and uphold brand standards; models expectations, recognizes outstanding performance and maintains a focus on team development.
  • Demonstrates a sense of pride, commitment, and passion for the brand and our customers; treats customers and the store team professionally, courteously, and respectfully.
  • Responsible for providing customers with an efficient checkout at the boutique cash.
  • Make certain that all Fairmont Château Laurier policies, procedures and corporate Fairmont standards are known, followed and acted upon at all times.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage items (coffee station).
  • Follow all sustainability standards and initiatives.
  • Assist in coffee/food preparation
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Excellent interpersonal and English/French communication skills.
  • Must possess a professional presentation.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible & reliable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of retail store management experience required.
  • Food and beverage experience will be considered an asset.
  • Bachelor's/Associate degree preferred; high school diploma/equivalent required.
  • Flexible schedule required including nights, weekends shifts;
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs 
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramp
