Job Description - Food & Beverage Host- PT

Job Description Position Summary Under the direct supervision of the F&B Supervisor, F&B Host/Hostess is responsible for providing food and beverage service to guests with an upbeat and positive attitude following rules and regulations and operational guidelines while maintaining a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. The Food & Beverage Host/Hostess is responsible for seating guests in a friendly and professional manner, while maintaining and recording daily sales on the P.O.S system. This position may be performed in a restaurant, on a casino floor, in a bar, at a special event, or other areas. Above all, this position must lead by example to create Great Experiences and Memories for all guests and colleagues and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. Key Accountabilities
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers in an upbeat, positive and professional manner;
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all food and beverage items available at the restaurants;
  • Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
  • Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
  • Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter. Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy;
  • Help to maintain clean service areas.
  • Be knowledgeable with the current food and beverage programs, incentives and customer concerns by regularly liaising with the F&B Manager and Supervisor;
  • Answer general questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services in the premise.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the F&B Manager and Supervisor.
  • Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
  • Ensure all NBLGC, casino and other provincial mandated laws, policies and procedures are stringently adhered to at all times
  • Check weekly schedule, as you are responsible for your weekly shift.
  • Ensure attendance at daily pre-shift meetings
  • Attend meetings and training programs when required
  • Maintain the highest standard of professionalism when interacting with guests and coworkers.
  • Maintain effective communication within the restaurant & bar with F&B Manager, Supervisor, and coworkers.
  • Work collaboratively with the FOH Supervisors to ensure consistency and standardization of department requirements;
  • Communicate with the Food & Beverage Manager and Supervisor about challenges that you experience and collaborate with them in creating solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education And Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent working experience;
  • Previous cash handling experience;
  • Previous P.O.S system experience an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, customer service and communication skills;
  • Must be people-focused and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service;
  • Proactive and solution oriented with a drive to succeed;
  • Demonstrate strong initiative, active listening and teamwork skills;
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team;
  • Ability to professionally handle situations that may arise due to intoxicated guests
  • Ability to obtain NB Responsible Beverage Certification
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Work Environment Considerations
  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables;
  • This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
  • The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
