Packaging Machine Operator

Starting Hourly Rate: $24.72 initially, with increase to $29.66 once training is successfully completed. Note, the wage increases to $30.55 on June 1st with further increases as outlined in the Collective Agreement. We are seeking a Packaging Machine Operator to join our Kelowna team, supporting our Winery Operations within Sandhill Winery under Calona Wines. What You Offer

• Grade 12 with previous experience working in a fast-paced, physically demanding manufacturing environment;
• Previous experience in a packaging or beverage production facility is preferred;
• Forklift experience and/or forklift certification is desirable but will train suitable candidates as required;
• Self-motivated, organized, have good mechanical/mathematical skills, attention to detail, and technical aptitude;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals;
• Actively support and promote a culture focused on Health and Safety, environmental enhancement as well adhere to HACCP requirements and the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP);
• Must be willing to work all shifts (day, afternoon, or night shift) and work under minimal supervision. Some work may occur in cold, damp conditions, and sometimes at heights; capable of performing all duties with a sense of urgency and with a positive, team-oriented approach;
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, bend, reach, crouch repeatedly; and
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without restriction.

Job Duties Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of packaging line equipment. The Operator will focus on product quality, be attentive to all areas on packaging lines to ensure smooth and efficient line operation. This will include but is not limited to: meeting or exceeding expected production targets, keeping all packaging lines clean and organized, demonstrate the ability to perform equipment and product changeovers quickly and accurately within a team environment. Will complete required documentation daily (includes Quality/HACCP and Production). The operator is responsible to keep their work area and equipment clean. Any other related duties as assigned by a supervisor. Note - This is a Unionized role and belongs to the SEIU Local 2 Branch Local 300 Union.
