We are excited to be opening our new location in heart of downtown Vancouver. As such we are looking for a talented and hardworking sous chef to join our team at Yolks on Davie. This is a demanding but rewarding position with a solid base salary, excellent tips, full benefits, daytime hours only (no nights or late nights) and a growing company!
Running a kitchen is a balancing act – we are seeking an individual who will keep on top of the small things while focusing on the big picture. We believe that a clean, organized, and well run kitchen is the heart of a successful restaurant that patrons will want to visit again and again. As the sous chef, you will be responsible in assisting the Head Chef in building, mentoring, and inspiring your team to keep food quality and turnaround time on track, creating an exciting and positive atmosphere, and encouraging your team members to push themselves to their highest potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day Kitchen operations as directed by the Head Chef
- Ensure compliance of all standards and procedures relating to internal policies and procedure and workplace safety standards.
- Providing positive leadership, including training and development, succession planning and performance evaluations.
- Co-ordination of labor cost controls, food cost controls and budgets.
- Responsible for purchasing and inventory controls.
- Lead all shifts during the absents of the Head Chef.
- Partner with the Management team to ensure that every guest has a Perfect Guest Experience every visit.
- Oversee all kitchen operations as directed by the Head Chef.
- Support and implement Standards and Controls.
Skills and Qualifications;
- Minimum of 3-5 years of operational experience in a high volume kitchen.
- Computer literate including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Windows-based computer systems is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards.
- Must have a passion for food and innovation.
- Positive, driven and focused.
