Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director, Provincial Cardiovascular and Stroke, the Regional Director, Cardiovascular Care, is accountable for providing leadership, vision and direction for the program. The position serves as a member of the Senior Management Team and leads the strategic planning of organizational-wide policy, goals and objectives that support the organization's strategic plan and vision of Health and Well Being. Every Person. Every Community.
The Director supports the vision and strategic direction for this provincial service. The Director collaborates with senior management and executive colleagues within the province, supply industry partners, staff at the provincial and local levels, consumer advocacy groups and community agencies and partners to deliver seamless care and service; oversees system-wide initiatives and programming; is a change agent; monitors performance; makes informed decisions about services; and plans, implements and evaluates quality, safety and operational objectives for the portfolio. The Director oversees workforce planning, recruitment, supervision and performance of staff at a senior level and fosters an atmosphere that promotes physical and psychological health and safety, and ensures compliance with evidence-based best practice, clinical guidelines, Accreditation Canada and other relevant standards. The Director also manages operating and capital budgets; develops and implements new initiatives, program proposals and business cases to address gaps in service and capitalize on opportunities; and collaborates with stakeholders on planning, programming, incident reviews, workplace safety, communications and new initiatives.

Job Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline is required.
Master's Degree is preferred.

Experience
Minimum of five years recent progressive leadership and management experience in a healthcare environment including managing people, budgets and processes, as well as in leading effective strategic change management initiatives.
Significant clinical practice in healthcare services.
Considerable experience in program planning and evaluation, managing projects of a complex nature, leading quality initiatives and leading multi-disciplinary teams.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Significant clinical knowledge of healthcare systems, preferably clinical experience in the provision of services.
Highly developed negotiation, time management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to function in a high pressure, diverse and changing environment.
Ability to manage operation including but not limited to patient flow, bed utilization, patient feedback , CSRS managing day to day staffing to support staff including payroll, leave request, supplies, accreditation and professional practice.
Proven senior management and leadership abilities, excellent communication, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.

Other Requirements
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
Current registration/licensure in the relevant professional association is required.
Travel throughout the province may be required.
