In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, Energy Management, the Energy Consultant is accountable and responsible for energy management within the assigned territory of Island Health. This includes energy efficiency and conservation, greenhouse-gas (GHG) reduction, water conservation and other related environmental sustainability objectives. The Energy Consultant has responsibility for effectively utilizing the services of consultants, contractors and project budgets of up to $200,000 per project for studies and engineering services. The Energy Consultant may be responsible for managing facilities capital projects to a value of $2.0M. The Energy Consultant effectively identifies, promotes the buy-in (through stakeholder consensus), implements and evaluates energy, GHG, water reduction and related environmental sustainability projects and programs.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, planning, sustainability or related field, with five (5) to seven (7) years of experience managing technical projects in an energy, facilities, or related field, plus one or more of the following:
