Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Southern Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Program -the Donor Coordinator position uses specialized knowledge and skills to coordinate organ and tissue donor cases, compile and review data, perform needs assessments, develop, and lead educational initiatives for Alberta Health Services across Southern Alberta. The Donor Coordinator position is responsible for coordination of all aspects of cadaveric tissue donation referral and organ donation referral, assessment, acceptance, allocation, surgical recovery, and distribution, as well as, providing support for health care providers and families within the organ and tissue donation system. This includes travel to the various acute care sites in Calgary to support donation locally. The Donor Coordinator is also responsible for supporting the development and delivery of programs and projects based on identified needs which includes legislation, literature reviews, statistical and environmental surveys, clinical competencies, quality improvement, strategic plans and organization needs. Current Donor Coordinator experience. If no current Donor Coordinator experience, candidate requires past Donor Coordinator experience or at least 5 years current Critical Care experience as well as current experience teaching in a healthcare setting and with families experiencing loss. Current experience with MS Office Suite, SCM, Connect Care, Netcare, and eCritical. Able to demonstrate and articulate key competencies from LEADS in a Caring Environment, specifically in the domains of Leads Self, Engage Others, and Achieve Results. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Leadership, delegation, and conflict management skills. Ability to work in a challenging and diverse environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to apply adult teaching learning principles.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
