Intermediate Structural Engineer

HD is currently seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering
  • Registered with APEGS, P. Eng. designation with ability to sign and stamp engineering documents
  • 4-9 years of experience
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to technical engineering
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills
  • People oriented with an ability to establish relationships, credibility, and trust

The following experience is considered an asset:

  • Permission to consult in Saskatchewan
  • Inventor, AutoCAD 2D and 3D
  • Project management
  • Bulk materials handling
  • Industrial and on-site experience
  • Structural Integrity, heavy industrial equipment, or mining equipment
  • Heavy Industrial Structural Design
  • Fabrication experience and machine design

As an Intermediate Structural Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Structural engineering and design
  • Engineering calculations for pressures, loads, and stresses
  • Consider strength of construction materials and select appropriately
  • Provide technical advice on safe design and constructability
  • Drawing reviews and checking
  • Provide estimates for use on proposals and projects
  • Preliminary engineering studies
  • Field checking and verification at various shops or client facilities
  • Equipment, fabrication inspections, and commissioning
  • Creation and preparation of technical specifications, data sheets, equipment specifications
  • Establish and improve client relationships
  • Project coordination duties such as tracking and reporting
  • Contribute to project reports, in collaboration with project team members
  • Hold team members accountable for their actions and individual responsibilities
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets, staying aware of project progress
  • Work at client mine sites and other client facilities
  • Other tasks as required to meet our client and operational requirements

  • 40 hours per week, or 80 hours over two-week payroll period
  • Overtime as required to meet operational and client requirements

  • Site visits, including overnight trips
