The Opportunity McElhanney is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Junior/Intermediate Civil Engineering Technologist in Penticton, BC. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their design/construction engineering experience by working on a wide variety of land development, municipal, and construction projects. The individual will work with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other technical software. The successful candidate will work alongside the multi-disciplinary divisions within our Okanagan branches. In addition, the individual will have opportunities to support McElhanney’s 30+ branches on multi-disciplinary projects in a variety of service sectors.
Salary Range: $51,000 to $92,000. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
What You’ll Be Doing: - Assist in the production of engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and tender documents for projects such as potable water, sanitation, stormwater management plans, roadway design, site grading and drainage systems;
- Take projects from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans, and project documentation requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed;
- Prepare documents required for regulatory approvals, prepare construction cost estimates and tender documents/contracts;
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved;
- Identify issues and facilitate corrective measures, think independently.
What You’ll Bring: - Experience level:
- Junior candidates: A recent graduate of a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
- Intermediate candidates: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in municipal design and construction;
- Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D Software is essential;
- Registration as, or ability to soon register as a Grad. Tech, A.Sc.T, or similar technical registration is considered an asset;
- Excellent communication, and relationship-building skills;
- Ability to work within a busy and close-knit team environment;
- Experience as the lead designer for land development and small municipal civil projects is an asset.
