Under general direction, may act as a lead hand of a group of technicians or a specialist in the performance of nonsurgical animal care. Typical Duties
The following illustrative duties indicate the extent of skill and the level of responsibility involved in this job. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated.
(a) performs animal husbandry involving choice and preparation of appropriate housing environment and nutrition, monitors health status, administers treatments as required under veterinary supervision, issues
sick reports as required;
(b) directs and instructs junior laboratory animal technicians and/or researchers/ students on proper nonsurgical animal care;
(c) performs non-surgical animal care, may provide technical assistance to investigators;
(d) may be responsible for animal antibody production schedules;
(e) may drive and operate a motorized vehicle used for transporting animals and supplies; loads and unloads contents of vehicle and;
(f) other related duties as required. Minimum Requirements for Selection Education Completion of grade twelve or equivalent. Experience Four years of related working experience or in the Employer’s judgement has the equivalent in required skills. Other Physically capable of performing the required duties with no history of animal-related allergies. Must be willing to participate in the University Health and Safety program which includes the requirement to undergo an immunization program depending on the work environment. Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written). May be required to be in possession of Provincial Class "G" driver’s license. Closing Date: 05/08/2024, 11:59PM ET
