The mainframe architect is an advisor and subject matter expert representing technology helping to solve complex problems to support business goals.   This is a key role shaping the strategy and implementation of technology projects across the Bank. You will also p rovide expert consultation to project, business and development teams on new initiatives. You will develop application and technology roadmaps to modernize the Bank’s mainframe ecosystem. You will help guide and lead the technical teams throughout the development cycle

  Responsibilities

  • Works with the business and technical teams to define scalable, available, and resilient end to end solutions spanning digital front ends and back end systems taking into account the enterprise architecture strategy
  • Creates and maintains the technology application modernization roadmap to evolve platforms to meet business and IT objectives
  • Demonstrates analytical mindset with strong affinity for problem solving in complex environments
  • Influences the Bank's strategic orientation by implementing technological solutions that optimize the quality of services and operations
  • Ensures solutions being proposed are viable and balance strategic and tactical goals, and meet project budget and timelines
  • Performs impact analysis to understand which upstream and downstream systems are impacted
  • H as in depth understanding of technology solutions, including containerization and APIs
  • Contributes to the growth of the architecture practice by helping define the enterprise architecture objectives, standards, creates and maintains supporting documentations and artifacts
  • Provides subject matter expertise, helps lead the technical teams and is a trusted advisor to the business
  • Works with Security, Data, and Infrastructure architecture to ensure all facets of architecture are being considered
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and negotiation skills required to clearly articulate and explain the proposed solution to senior stakeholders
  • Helps define the SDLC to ensure development and testing automation processes are in place to optimize efficiency and quality

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of architecture experience implementing solutions for large programs with excellent understanding of how to build resilient systems, that are secure and interconnected in a complex ecosystem
  • Subject matter expertise with Z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM, COBOL
  • Experience with mainframe modernization tooling including: ZD&T, ZOWE, Mono2Micro and ADDI
  • Experience in designing secure solutions using security best practices
  • Prior experience in software engineering
  • Experience in Agile software development projects
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Knowledge of the banking and financial sectors
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture framework such as TOGAF
  • Strong team player with demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in design and development of high availability platforms
  • Experience with enterprise architecture modeling tools such as Sparx EA, BIZZdesign, MEGA, Archimate is an asset
