Miramichi Pharmacy Assistant

JOB PURPOSE

The Pharmacy Assistant - Certified is responsible for performing delegated checking functions and for acquiring, preparing, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical products.

QUALIFICATION

• Recognized post-secondary Pharmacy Assistant training program and at least one year of experience in a hospital pharmacy or equivalent.
• Certified or eligible to be certified in delegated checking functions.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Pharmacy Assistant - Certified is responsible for:

• Performing delegated checking functions
• Recording and updating medication orders
• Preparing and labelling pharmaceutical products including sterile and oncology ad mixtures
• Packaging drugs for dispensing and preparing bulk solutions and other compounds
• Delivering drugs to patient care areas
• Controlling and maintaining pharmaceutical inventory
• Ordering and receiving pharmaceutical products and supplies
