Job Description - Moncton Registered Nurse Class A

ANTICIPATED END DATE: 30 May 2025

JOB PURPOSE

To collaboratively participate in the planning and delivery of total nursing care to meet individual patient needs in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and policies of the Healthy Aging Family Practice Departments. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and families on the Brunswick West inpatient unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current registration as a practicing member of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
  • Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course and recertified yearly as a condition of continuing employment
  • Possesses the medical/surgical nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care for this population and off service patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly changing priorities, and complex patient care needs
  • Possesses the medical/surgical nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care.
  • Be willing to obtain and maintain competency in the nursing care of patient requiring:
    • PN - parental nutrition
    • CVAD line - central venous access device
    • Wound vac application and maintenance
    • Palliative care education as directed.
    • Geriatric care education as directed
    • Care of the dying and family care
    • Pain management courses
    • BCMI within the first year
    • ACLS within the first year
    • Other medical surgical competencies as necessary
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or obtain within 1 year.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, as assigned, including weekends and holidays throughout the year.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Good work Record.

  • Patient Safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare. Successful candidates must be accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively, and responding to adverse events.
  • Attend work on a regular basis
  • Work in other patient care areas as requested by nursing supervisor/manager.
  • Willing to accept change and demonstrate the ability to adapt in a changing environment.
