If you answer yes to these questions, then we would like to invite you to read further.  As Project Executive (Health Workforce Partnerships) you will join a leadership team that is accountable for the planning, development and implementation, operations and management of health workforce recruitment and retention strategies. As part of the Health Workforce team, you will lead highly participatory projects with various stakeholders to ensure that the work of the OHPR builds from the assets of and meets the needs of the province. You are a key point on health workforce recruitment and retention matters, focusing on health academic partnerships, nurses, physicians, and other health professionals, providing strategic advice and project management leadership.  If you are ready for the challenge, we need your help to not only increase the number of health-care professionals working in the province, but also to retain those already working here and be a part of the ongoing innovations within the health ecosystem. 

 

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and management of complex heath system recruitment/retention/redesign programs and transformation projects.
  • Provide comprehensive and expert policy advice to senior leadership on recruitment and retention matters.
  • Lead the development of strategies, standards, and policy through review of relevant research, literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, and stakeholder consultation.
  • Provide strategic support to the health authorities, long-term care sector and community-based organizations to ensure excellence in recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Lead the preparation of advice and recommendations to government including Memoranda to Executive Council, Reports and Recommendation and presentations to Health Committee.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of an accountability framework and result-based management tools and indicators that monitor, measure, and assess risk, impact, and progress of system performance.
  • Collaborate across the Office and work with the leadership team on the development of the Operational Plan with targets and lead the production of quarterly accountability reports and development of financial forecast.

     

Qualifications and Experience


This may be the right opportunity for you if you are an experienced leader with exceptional partnership building skills, with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. public administration, human resources, business/commerce) and several years of experience in progressively responsible leadership positions. A master’s degree is an asset, along with leadership experience in the health care sector. Experience in a recruitment and retention management role is an asset.

 
You have experience leading the development of new strategies, standards, and policy; providing recommendations and solutions to problems, and required changes, by developing new approaches based on research, innovation, and broad consultation. You have experience with change management and project management. You have experience developing and presenting written recommendations. Experience managing budgets within forecasts is required.  As a successful Project Executive (Health Workforce Partnerships) you will:  Value diversity and lead with a lens that supports and creates an engaged culture where team members feel valued, challenged, and motivated. Think strategically and make sound decisions by connecting with stakeholders (both internally and externally) using strategic and tactical approaches. Possess significant experience working with partners and other stakeholders across industry, departments, and divisions to successfully achieve objectives. Have a clear communication style.  You possess a high degree of problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal skills. You have superior organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated decisiveness, and the ability to manage competing priorities with tight and conflicting deadlines.  The Government of Nova Scotia has adopted the LEADS Leadership Framework. Working Conditions


Work within an office environment.

 
The ability to travel locally, nationally, and internationally may be required (driver’s license and/or passport may be required). 

 

Additional Information


This is a term employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of May 9, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: EC 14 

Salary Range:  $4,461.45 - $5,576.81 Bi-Weekly
