Position Overview Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) is actively seeking a Registered Dietitian – Facility Based , to provide essential support to the Nutrition Services department at Souris District Health Centre in Souris, MB . This role reports to the Nutrition Services Manager.

The Region covers a geographically large area, around 67,000 sq. kilometers. Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) employs over 7,500 employees who work together to improve the physical, mental, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals, families and communities in Western Manitoba.
Main Duties
Completes nutrition assessments.
Develops, monitors and revises nutrition care plans.
Provides nutrition education.
Keeps records as per standards established by the region/program.
Provides nutrition expertise for relevant program-specific procedures.
Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings (e.g. Care Conferences, Clinical Rounds, and Discharge Planning).
Reports on relevant issues from clinical areas worked.
Shares area of knowledge and expertise with team.
Experience
Proven facility-based healthcare or clinical nutrition experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetic, nutrition or related field such as food and nutritional science from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated.
Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program (period of supervised practical training) which has been accredited by Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) or planned practicum as requested by the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Registration as Registered Dietitian (RD) with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
Membership with the national association, Dietitians of Canada (DC) is voluntary.
Qualifications and Skills
Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapies.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with various levels of personnel, both internally and externally and within an inter-disciplinary environment.
General knowledge of food and nutrient analysis.
Practices within the professional standards and the ethical, legislative and legal parameters of the profession (e.g. the act and code of ethics of the College of Dietitians of Manitoba).
Physical Requirements
Must be in good physical and mental health and be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
Must be able to work under stress and time constraints.
May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
