Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, Health System Value, the Director, Quality and Performance Initiatives provides leadership and coordination to essential relationships, policy development activities and projects designed to sustain and improve the quality performance and value of the health system and health services across the spectrum of care.


This Director position works in an integrated manner with other Directors in the Health System Value branch to champion alignment to a common vision for health system quality and performance amongst key stakeholders and all divisions, organizations and service providers of the publicly funded health system.

Leveraging a common health system performance framework, the director leads multi-stakeholder exploration of key insights about the quality and performance of the health system to define emerging issues, risks and opportunities; develop options; and document, socialize and prioritize potential solutions to improve the overall value of the health system.

The Director champions consideration of data-driven quality and performance insights in the design and implementation of independently-executed performance improvements activities across the health system; facilitates stakeholder coordination to reduce duplication and optimize resources; and directly oversees the execution of complex multi-stakeholder performance improvement initiatives that require coordination amongst various departments, organizations or system-partners.

Qualifications

A related University degree (e.g., Public Policy, Health Policy, Public Health, Business, etc), supplemented by at least seven (7) years of related experience

Equivalency:
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Required:

  • Experience applying rigorous data-driven approaches to analyzing options and preparing recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop trusted relationships with senior leaders across a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Experience in the health care system
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience providing briefings tailored to varies audiences
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent complex projects or initiatives
  • Experience in collaborating with and leading multi-disciplinary teams of professionals
  • Knowledge and experience in project management

Assets:

  • Post graduate education in a related field
  • Strong knowledge of governance and accountability frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of GOA policy development, government structure, operations and decision-making processes (up to Cabinet level)

Hours of Work
7.25 hours daily/ 36.25 hours weekly, Monday to Friday Location
ATB Place North, Edmonton, Alberta. This position requires working from the office with an option to qualify for a hybrid work arrangement (in accordance with GOA policy).
