Success Coach (Sylvan Lake) Location Innisfail, AB : Mental Health Capacity Building Program YES Program!Success CoachChinooks Edge School Division is looking to hire a full time permanent Success Coach position in the community of Sylvan Lake. Focus of work will be with elementary and middle school students. Candidates must have the skills and energy to connect with this age demographic, be highly charismatic, and willing to be playful and engaging while creating an inclusive and caring atmosphere. Preference will be given to applicants who have direct experience working with youth and who are comfortable with facilitating classroom programming. Position start date is September 5, 2024. With your cover letter and resume, please include 3 references. Pay grid is between $40,588- $51,830, with benefits, based on experience. Hours are 40 hours week and does not align with school calendar dates. The MHCB Success Coach provides mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth and families. Working as part of a team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence based social emotional learning and mental health programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative. Delivery of programming involves classroom programming and small group work in schools and community settings, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable students to better their own mental health and wellness. This position requires someone who has been formally educated in the health or social sciences field (such as health promotion & prevention, social work, nursing, early childhood development, public health, psychology) and who is knowledgeable about addiction, mental health, FNMI and LGTBQ populations. Candidates must also be comfortable presenting programs to large groups within the classrooms to a variety of age groups, as well as offer engaging mental and physical health programs at lunch, after school and in the community. Qualifications & Work ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have: Post-Secondary degree or diploma in health/human services field At least 2 years working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered) Familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families Ability to research and implement evidence based strategies to increase mental health and reduce stigma of mental illness in K-12 schools Experience with delivering programming and comfortable with facilitating classroom programing from Kindergarten to High School grade levels Effective time management skills Takes initiative and is able to work independently as well as in teams Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries Ability to develop supportive relationships with young people Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and healthcare providers Knowledge of the local community and resources available Skilled in Microsoft Office programs and working knowledge of social media. All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable All employees must possess a valid class 5 drivers license and insurance required to transport students as needed.
