Position Summary:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for the monitoring of life support equipment such as invasive and non-invasive ventilators. The RRT is required to initiate, monitor and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed. As an RRT you will be responding to cardiac arrest codes and high risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation, and performing intubation as ordered by the physician. The role also involves providing patient and staff teaching as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision of high-quality respiratory care as a key member of the inter-professional team
  • Key member of Critical Care Response Team and Code Blue Team
  • setup, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy
  • Current Registration and in good standing with the CRTO (College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) required
  • Current ACLS required
  • Experience working effectively in a busy clinical environment
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent leadership and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to establish positive and supportive relationships with patients, families and other health professionals
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, and performance required.
