Job Description - Clinical Equipment Planner SPH Redevelopment

The salary range for this position is CAD $45.46/Hr. - CAD $65.35/Hr.
Mandatory Vaccination

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Providence Health Care must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.

The Clinical Equipment Planner coordinates clinical equipment needs throughout the planning & execution process, including the development of technical specifications and undertakes inventory assessment of existing clinical equipment. Develops the preliminary equipment list and assists with budgeting. Leads the procurement and planning of equipment installations in conjunction with multiple project planning team members. Develops and maintains a data sheet library and equipment data base for assigned projects.

Education
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering, clinical engineering, biomedical technology, or health technology plus five (5) to seven (7) years recent, related experience with complex medical equipment. Skills and Abilities Strong analytical skills and organizational abilities demonstrated through related work experience. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to assess, plan and coordinate medical equipment and architectural plans, inventory control or materials management. Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, organize, prioritize and implement. Demonstrated ability to work within a project environment. Demonstrated ability to work in detail. Demonstrated ability to persuade and mediate multiple stakeholders and project team members both internally and externally. Working understanding of computer technology and software applications including databases, spreadsheets and word processing.

Develops strategies to manage and minimize PHC's risk associated with budget, design integration, equipment specification, and installation/commissioning of all project related medical equipment. Manages risks and issues related to equipment to ensure project integrity. Escalates issues as appropriate. Establishes detailed project charters, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables and requirements. Assists in the development of the budget and assists in developing a procurement strategy, including organizing equipment based on dollar value. Confirms available funding. Coordinates activities, in collaboration with the project team, purchasing department, and key stakeholders, to produce procurement documents for required medical equipment that meets user needs while conforming to established purchasing standards and policies. Working in conjunction with architectural and engineering consultants, identifies infrastructure requirements, and potential equipment makes and models to reduce installation and budget risk, and to ensure established standard, user needs, and safety protocols are maintained during equipment selection, installation and user training. Consults with Clinical and Facility Planners and ensures that the facility design accommodates and supports both potential and already selected equipment, with a view to future flexibility. Prepares equipment lists and reviews equipment lists and architectural plans with stakeholder departments to ensure that spatial, electrical, plumbing, and utilization requirements are met. Performs site inspections to ensure that proper dimensional allowances and services have been provided for selected equipment installations. Develops project schedules and ensures activities and cost targets are adhered to by working with user groups to complete tasks assigned by target dates. Identifies and reports equipment related problems and/or deviation from the approved plan. Prepares justification reports as necessary to accompany any requested equipment changes. Conducts technical research to ensure evidence-based information is provided throughout the project planning processes. Identifies project critical path issues and produces relevant progress reports. Develops strategies and processes for collecting, tracking, reviewing and maintaining all clinical equipment data. Participates in and attends related meetings and committees as required. Performs other related duties as required.
