Interior Health is currently seeking a Community Health Worker to join our team at the 100 Mile Hospital in beautiful Ashcroft, B.C.

About the Job:
As a Community Health Worker, you will work as part of a dynamic team of Nurses and LPNs who support Community Clients’ independence and ability to stay at home. Community Health Workers provide home support services to clients, by assisting with personal care and daily living, while promoting maximum independence. Community Health Workers are key players in the home health care plan for each client.
Typical duties include:
• Activities of daily personal care, such as bathing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene
• Household duties related to maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
• Meal preparation in accordance with designated plans
• Assistance with mobility and transfers
• Observing and reporting changes in client behaviour and condition
• Performing delegated tasks according with training and procedures

This is a relief part-time (0.98 FTE) opportunity until March 6, 2025 or the return of the incumbent. The Shift Types for this position are rotating days and evenings, with the hours of work being 07:00 to 15:30, 13:00 to 21:30.

About this location/unit:
Ashcroft Ashcroft and Cache Creek are small communities with one of the best climates in BC, having mild winters, and warm summers, with little precipitation. The mountains are only a few miles away. Skiing, hiking, fishing, swimming, and biking opportunities are within easy drives. While the health site is located in and named after the Ashcroft community (population 1,800), the Village of Cache Creek (population 1,200) is 10 km away. The site provides service to both communities and the surrounding area, a total population of approximately 7,000.

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Graduation from a recognized Resident Care Aide/Home Support Worker Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience
• BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker registry (please include your number)
• Current valid BC Drivers’ License and use of a reliable vehicle

Effective April 1, 2024, the hourly wage for this position will be $27.92 to $29.60
