About the Opportunity

The General Maintenance Worker reports to the Assistant Manager, Maintenance and Operations and/or designate and is responsible to maintain the integrity of the building infrastructure, systems and grounds. Such work will cover repairs, preventative maintenance, etc. The successful candidate must be available for all shifts including days, evenings, nights and/or weekends. Travel to other sites may be required. The incumbent will complete all employer requested upgrades and/or educational training as required.


The duties of the General Maintenance Worker will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health Authority. 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in maintenance and plant work preferred. 
  • Ability to plan and carry out necessary work in maintenance and repair, as well as perform preventative maintenance duties. 
  • Ability to work with a team, as well as unsupervised. 
  • Ability to use sound professional judgement and initiative.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and patients.
  • Show respect for, and a willingness to learn from, the professional knowledge of personnel in other disciplines.
  • Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to patients, staff, co-workers. 
  • Ability and license to operate various motor vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment related to the work situation.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations.
  • Must have the ability to work in harmony as a member of the Operations and Maintenance team.
  • Must be able to use initiative to plan and carry out maintenance and repair duties with minimal supervision. 
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

$24.35 - $24.92 Hourly
