Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans. The GIS Analyst is part of an innovative technical team responsible for performing Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping duties as it relates to Government of Alberta (GoA) owned lands and facilities. The position is also responsible for drafting and maintaining Computer Aided Design (CAD) related record drawings pertaining to GoA properties.
The position functions as a specialist in researching, resolving and/or determining land mapping issues as it relates to legal descriptions and extent of obligation. Responsibilities also include responding to changes in legislation and orders in council as they relate to large assembly projects by keeping mapping current and updating the Transportation and Utility Corridor (TUC) boundaries and lands. The GIS Analyst works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including other ministry staff, partnering ministries, and contractors.
