Job Description

As a Server in the VG Lounge, you will ensure all guests receive exceptional service by consistently offering professional, friendly, warm and engaging service

What you will be doing:

• Set up food & beverage service and clear tables in the VG Lounge.
• Ensure exceptional service to guests with strong sales skills. 
• Ensures all guests have a memorable experience in dining.
• Demonstrate a complete understanding of Lounge policies & procedures and service standards as outlined by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
• Have complete knowledge of the menu and beverage lists in the outlets and all other special promotions taking place in the hotel. Knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods.
• To be able to answer any guest questions about menu items in an informative and helpful way.
• Responsible for up-selling.
• Ensure all bills are handled in an accurate manner.
• Adhere to health & safety policy and ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.
• Adhere to the hotel’s environmental policies and procedures.
• Adhere to all allergy policies.
• Demonstrate service promise standards and values.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous serving experience with an advanced level of liquor, wine and beer knowledge. 
• Strong wine knowledge-certification in F&B or Wine Stewarding an asset.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food pairing and menu descriptions coupled with a passion for food.
• Good comfort level with F&B POS System.
• “Smart Choices” responsible liquor service certification required.
• Service oriented, team player, flexible in high paced environment and able to handle pressure with grace.
• Excellent verbal & written English communication skills.
• Must be able to complete all physical aspects of the job without restriction, i.e. Lift 25+ lbs at a time, stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
• Fluency in a second language an asset.
• Work well under pressure in a fast paced environment and must work well in a team environment.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and/or holidays.
