Job Description - Maintenance Worker I

Your Opportunity Reporting to the Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FM&E) the Maintenance Worker I conducts a variety of minor maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance tasks that are specific to all individual trades and technical disciplines. Performs a variety of other tasks related to general cleaning, furniture or equipment moving and grounds keeping duties. Assists all Trades, Power Engineers, Contractors and other Facilities Maintenance and Engineering staff as required. Please note: Classifications Under Review. Description Description: Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Worker I conducts a variety of basic maintenance repairs and performs a variety of general cleaning and grounds keeping duties. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required. Additional Required Qualifications Must have very good customer service skills. Must have very good interpersonal skills. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Computer skills required. e.g. Microsoft Office (Includes Outlook, Word, Excel). Must be able to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing. Must be able to use required tools and equipment related to maintenance repair and testing. Must be able to maintain composure and make decisions in emergency situations. Preferred Qualifications Two years in a hospital maintenance setting. Mechanical aptitude. 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate.
