The salary range for this position is CAD $54.19/Hr. - CAD $77.89/Hr.

As a Manager, OR Equipment and Supplies with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Work within the context of a client and family service culture and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre, the Manager, OR Equipment and Supplies is responsible for providing operational leadership and management of OR Equipment and Supplies services of the Peri-operative Clinical Service Unit.
  • Focus on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of OR Equipment and Supplies services within a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Participate in the coordination of activities surrounding the inventory management project, as well as providing leadership for the Operating Rooms (OR) inventory and equipment aspects of the system implementation, which includes facilitating training of staff.
  • Additionally, this position works as a team player with colleagues and co-workers to achieve excellence in client centred care, education, and research within a complex multi-site environment that extends to the community.

Education & Experience

  • Baccalaureate (Masters Degree preferred) in Nursing supplemented with leadership and business management courses.
  • Five (5) years' recent, related clinical and progressive leadership experience, including direct supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration with the Registered Nurses’ Association of British Columbia.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of business administration theory including strategic and operational planning.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical theory and practice within a client centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of health care disciplines and their role in client and family care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and supplies utilized in an operating room environment of a tertiary level teaching hospital.
  • Knowledge of research process and methodology, including analytical and evaluation skills. Knowledge of program planning, implementation and evaluation approaches including community development strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of collective agreement interpretation and demonstrated ability to function effectively within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a clinical and health care leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and coach team members to promote an efficient and effective team based workforce.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems efficiently and resourcefully.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain and refine priorities in a complex and varied environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work diplomatically and persuasively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust communications to suit the recipient and/or situation within a complex multi-site health care environment that extends to the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, clients and their families, one-on-one, in groups and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to make public presentations.
  • Demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet and database skills and computer literacy to operate a computerized information system.
