Unit Summary

The Integrated Stroke Program is comprised of 24 beds on 7 South at the General, 28 beds at the Regional Rehabilitation Centre and specialized longer term rehabilitation beds at St. Peter�s Hospital. This position will be covering beds at the General Site and Regional Rehab Centre. Staff will have experience with skills in the treatment of stroke patients in both the acute and rehabilitation phases of the care continuum. The unique model provides opportunities for enhanced continuity of patient care through the clustering of stroke patients into specialized units with a dynamic and strong interdisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the provision of assessments, treatment interventions, program planning and implementation and discharge planning for patients admitted to the unit and discharged to any one member of appropriate resources as indicated.

This role is temporary until December 2025.

  1. Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
    2. Graduate of an approved School of Occupational Therapy
    3. Recent experience (within the last 2 years) in the rehabilitation care of patients with neurological impairments as well as care of the elderly patient
    4. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
    5. Demonstrated ability to work with and to supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants
    6. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
    7. ADP authorizer preferred
    8. Basic knowledge and understanding of manual wheelchair seating and splinting preferred
