Dedicated exclusively to children and their families, SickKids is a world-renowned state of the art quaternary pediatric hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. Our Division provides care for neonates, children, and adolescents with a wide range of urological conditions including congenital abnormalities of the kidneys and urinary tract, hypospadias, undescended testicles and urolithiasis, but also rare conditions with high levels of complexity such as bladder exstrophy, cloacal anomalies, uro-oncology, disorders of sexual differentiation and renal transplantation (over 20 transplants per year). Pediatric Urology is an everchanging specialty with evolving needs. In keeping with SickKids’ history of innovation and advancing global paediatric health, our Division is seeking a pediatric urologist with focused interest on reconstructive surgery and transitional urology. The successful candidate is expected to provide the highest quality of care in gender reassignment procedures (post transition to adult care in partnership with University of Toronto Division of Urology), complex pediatric reconstructive surgery (bladder augmentation, neobladder creation, traumatic bladder and urethral injury, neo-phalloplasty and female genitalia reconstruction), lead the Transitional Care Program with our partner institutions and actively participate in renal transplantation. It is an exciting time at SickKids as we execute our campus redevelopment project, including a new state-of-the-art acute care hospital tower. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage multidisciplinary, clinical and basic science facilities that are available on the Hospital campus, including the 21-story Research Institute, and the University of Toronto’s Department of Surgery.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience, we are offering a compensation package that is competitive within North America, 70% of $357K for the first three years with a gradual increase to 100%. The Urology program is funded through an Alternate Funding Plan arrangement with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC). This arrangement values academic contributions and protected time for research, education and other creative professional activities. Support for relocation expenses will be offered.
