Position: Planner Reviewer

Location: Various municipalities across BC

Overview: As a Planner Reviewer, you will be responsible for reviewing plans and specifications accompanying applications for buildings regulated under Part 3 of the BC Building Code and applicable codes, acts, bylaws, standards, and regulations. The focus of the work is on larger and more complex buildings such as hospitals, schools, assembly, and high-rise residential and mixed-use buildings.

Responsibilities:

• Review and evaluate building plans and specifications for compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
• Provide technical information and assistance to property owners, contractors, engineers, architects, and other municipal staff.
• Discuss plans, proposed projects, and non-conformance issues with applicants.
• Clarify problem areas and aid in finding solutions to areas of non-compliance.
• Interpret and explain codes, bylaws, and regulations, and make recommendations for revisions.
• Assist with coordinating the processing of building permit applications through City departments.
  

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Building Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in building plan review or related work.
• Strong knowledge of BC Building Code and other relevant regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
