Job Description - PROGRAM ASSISTANT, STUDENT PRACTICE EDUCATION

Position Summary
If you are looking for friendly, supportive staff, and work life balance this may be just the opportunity that will take your career to a new level In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, and as directed by the Regional Manager, Student Practice Education, the Program Assistant, Student Practice Education supports and facilitates processes in the Student Practice Education portfolio throughout Northern Health (NH). The Program Assistant provides administrative and technical support, including maintenance of the Health Science Placement Network (HSPnet) system and other computerized programs, liaising with clinical sites, academic institutions and NH staff to facilitate placement processes, and other education initiatives/programs as required. The position also supports the coordination of learning opportunities by scheduling/coordination of meetings, teleconferences, and video-conferences, as well as preparing, editing and distributing program materials and documentation, registers and tracks learners, and facilitates access to electronic learning and development applications. Qualifications
  • Grade 12, successful completion of recognized courses relating to computer operating systems, plus two years recent, related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to keyboard at 50 wpm.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work and set priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (includes Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Competent working with computers.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
