Your Opportunity: The Psychiatric Aide will participate in delivering quality patient care to pediatric patients and their families under the supervision of the Addiction and Mental Health Clinical Supervisor and Manager and in collaboration with the unit managers, assistant head nurses, nurses and allied health team on Pediatrics. This position requires an individual with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as knowledge of mental health disorders. The psych aide will work in collaboration with patients and families to implement care plan as outlined. They will participate in a multidisciplinary team collaboration in monitoring changes in patient’s status and revising care plans. Description: As a Psychiatric Aide, you will perform activities within a multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. Your duties will includes assisting with the provision of routine nursing care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs; assisting with organized activities or programs; as well as observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. You will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Completion of some post secondary education i.e. diploma or bachelors. NVCI required. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year experience in Addictions and Mental Health (acute or community). Understanding of and application of trauma informed care. Understanding and application of patient and family centered care. Effective and strong communication skills. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to maintain a respectful and professional relationship with team members, patients, family and all stakeholders.
