About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Public Health Manager, the Secretary I provides administrative support to the Public Health Manager and Public Health staff. The secretary is responsible, as part of a team, for the effective and efficient operation of the office on a day-to-day basis. Duties include but are not limited to communicating effectively with Public Health staff, the general public, and outside agencies; typing; filing; reception duties; records management; supply requisitions in SAP; time entry in HRIS; and data entry in the Public Health databases.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in a recognized Office Administration/Medical Secretarial Program
  • Successful completion of Medical terminology course
  • One year experience in a responsible secretarial position, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of computers is essential, including accurate keyboarding skills with minimum typing speed of 40 wpm, Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of personnel, hospital and patient information
  • Training and experience in SAP and HRIS or willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision, to prioritize activities and to work cooperatively as part of a team. Ability to use sound judgement.
  • Experience with brochure development, planning and coordinating educational sessions and other special events.
  • Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation as travel may be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time (100%) position; 70 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$22.89 - $24.89 Hourly
