The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program responsible for the adult patient population and will support patients specifically who are within the Movement disorder and Neuromuscular but will also have opportunities to learn and provide services to other clinical areas on the hospital campus as indicated. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:The candidate will have proven communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment. Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working as an RSW in acute care/ambulatory multidisciplinary. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary. The ability to work with various computer programs is an asset. Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Your quality of work must meet departmental and organizational expectations. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. You must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. You must be able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively and is able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks. You have effective teaching skills for students and other professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in acute care. Experience working with inpatients and ambulatory patients with Movement disorder and Neuromuscular experience preferred.
