ASPHALT PLANT FOREMAN
Pioneer Construction Inc. is looking for candidates interested in joining a dynamic team as an Asphalt Plant Foreman in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Our ideal candidate will have a strong ability in coordinating all activities on our projects. The Asphalt Plant Foreman is a full-time seasonal position with a competitive benefits package.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Pioneer Superintendents as well as your crews. You’ll get exposure to many parts of the construction industry which will set the stage for a terrific career at Pioneer.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership to see that the Plant achieves their mission and production cost goals.
- Oversee daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Identifies, schedules, coordinates, and assist in all repairs and regular maintenance.
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant.
- Assure that plant complies with OSHA Regulations and company rules.
- Monitor daily inventory levels for current & future asphalt mix requirements.
- Communicate with Paving Foreman to schedule trucks and arrange for loading materials.
- Communicate with General Superintendent and/or Senior Managers to keep them informed of any potential performance or operational issues and determine course of corrective action.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
- Perform set up and take down of plants at different job sites as required.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- A valid Class G License is required.
- Highschool Diploma is required.
- Knowledge of Asphalt Plant Operations is required.
- Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work any shift including days, nights, and weekends.
- Ability to travel to job sites with overnight stays when required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to identify performance gaps, coaching and mentoring the paving crew to encourage efficiency and teamwork.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
