Associate Dean, Academic Studies

Applications are invited for the position of ­­­­­­­­­­­­Associate Dean, School of Academic Studies, located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $115,032 to $153,374 for a 35-hour work week.Additional hours may be required as necessary.

Reporting to the Dean, Academic and Liberal Studies, this dynamic individual works collaboratively with high performance academic, administrative, and support teams in the division to lead the development and delivery of outstanding quality academic courses including math, communications and computer applications courses delivered to over 130 programs across the college at both the certificate, diploma, and degree level.

The Associate Dean is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the academic delivery of academic courses in line with college budget and enrollment forecasts. The incumbent provides leadership in the development and renewal of curriculum, the effective hiring and development of faculty, and the management of workload assignments. The Associate Dean also designs and controls an expense budget, supervises faculty and staff, and manages the delivery of courses in the portfolio. This role requires a high degree of collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty, and college stakeholders to ensure that courses are delivered effectively and efficiently with a focus on quality and student success. Resolving academic integrity cases, attending community and college recruitment events, and participating on college-wide committees are also responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

• degree in a related field of study
• nine (9) years combined experience which includes management and industry experience and a minimum five (5) years of successful teaching at a post-secondary level
• working with diverse student populations
• experience in developing student-centred programs and supports
• with curriculum design and development in a post secondary/adult environment
• development abilities in moving ideas from conceptual to operational
• team building, collaboration, and networking abilities
• skills in communication, problem solving/conflict resolution, organizational, and prioritizing within a multi faceted role

Preferred Qualifications

• academic management and/or leadership experience
• management and budget experience
• with supervision of staff within a unionized environment
