Job Description - Buyer

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.


This is an excellent opportunity for you to join an entrepreneurial organization focused on technical excellence without the bureaucracy of larger firms. You will have the ability to make a significant contribution to the project team as the Company pursues the disciplined development of the Blackwater Mine. Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Supervisor – Procurement, the buyer plays a pivotal role in the provision of professional procurement services, ensuring the economical sourcing and purchasing of materials and services to meet operational requirements at the mine site. With a keen focus on cost efficiency and quality, the Buyer navigates the procurement process adeptly, contributing to the seamless flow of essential resources for optimal mine site operations.

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Source tenders and quotations.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and work with the end user to gain the best value for the company.
  • Process purchase orders.
  • Expediting and updating expected delivery status/tracking in the ERP system.
  • Provide directions to mine site teams with regard to purchasing procedures.
  • Process account inquiries promptly.
  • Support and promote the local community supply infrastructure.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure they are providing the required service levels.
  • Ensure all teams are in compliance with the Company’s purchasing policy and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a neat and systematic storage and archiving system for tenders, quotations and purchase orders as well as other related documents.
  • Respond to queries and resolve issues for all teams.
  • Ensure all teams are aware of events that may affect their work, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.
  • Adhere to ethical standards in dealing with external suppliers and the general community ensuring they are in alignment with the company code of conduct
  • SCMP Designation preferred.
  • Working toward a capital PMAC designation.
  • Minimum 4 years purchasing experience in mining industry.
  • Working knowledge of legislation requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and current tax ruling.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a very fast-paced environment and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
