Job Description - Chief, People and Culture

Founded in 2009, Boutique 1861 is a fast-growing Canadian company specialized in womenswear with four distinct brands: Boutique 1861, La petite garçonne, Maison garçonne and Boudoir 1861. The company had its own online store, 1861.ca, as well as four stores all located on Saint-Laurent Street in Montreal. Under the supervision of the President, the Chief, People and Culture is responsible for establishing a strategic human resources vision in accordance with the strategic planning, the organizational goals and the operational needs. This person is also responsible for implementing this vision on a daily basis. 

Responsibilities :

  • Establish a strategic HR plan in order to achieve strategic and organizational goals and implement these actions;

  • Coach and counsel managers and employees by providing assistance with employee relations issues and labour law questions; 

  • Implement innovative and creative HR policies, procedures or programs in accordance with the strategic planning and organizational culture; 

  • Maintain an efficient organizational structure;

  • Implement initiatives and projects to maintain the organizational culture on a daily basis: 

  • Carry out a human resources management planning and manage all recruitment processes, employee integration programs and employee performance management programs. 

  • Establish innovative recruitment strategies and develop a unique and inspiring employer brand by utilizing social media. 

  • Put in place measures to maintain a good compensation offer in order to attract and retain talents; 

  • Create training programs aligned with the strategic planning and training needs;

  • Manage CNESST claims and pricing decisions in collaboration with the prevention mutual; 

  • Maintain a preventive management of occupational health, safety and wellness; 

  • Perform all payroll tasks every two weeks. 

  • Minimum of university degree in human resources or industrial relations;

  • Three to five years of relevant experience; 

  • CRHA or CRIA certification (an asset); 

  • Experience in a retail company (an asset); 

  • Payroll experience (an asset);

  • Bilingualism, oral and written;

  • Strategic vision and analytical skills;

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
