Job Description - Community Operations Manager

Position: Community Operations Manager

Classification: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: 35 Hours per week

Salary: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience

Location: Yunesit'in, Hanceville BC- 1 hour and 15 minutes from Williams Lake, BC

The Yunesit'in Nation is looking for a Community Operations Manager. This person will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of Yunesit'in Government. The Community Operations Manager will play a key role in ensuring efficiency, productivity, and the execution of strategic initiatives. This position involves managing teams, processes, and resources to achieve operational excellence. The Community Operations Manager is a key contributor to the organization's success by ensuring that operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with strategic objectives.

The Yunesit'in Nation is a First Nations community located West of Williams Lake. They are a part of the Tsilhqot'in Nation, which is made up of six communities that share a common language and culture.

The Yunesit'in Nation continues to assert their rights and protect their land. They are actively involved in resource management decisions that affect their territory, striving to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability.

Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry- Section 16(1) Canadian Human Rights Act.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Strategy

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Continuously assess and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage various operational teams and departments, including but not limited to logistics, procurement, facilities, and administration.
  • Foster a high-performance culture and ensure teams are well-aligned with organizational objectives.

Resource Management

  • Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources, including personnel, budget, and technology.
  • Monitor and optimize resource allocation to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist with the development of proposal and provide support for resource acquisition and distribution.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to streamline operations.
  • Implement best practices and standards to enhance operational efficiency.

Risk Management

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize operational risks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Vendor and Supplier Management

  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and pricing.

Performance Metrics

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs to senior leadership.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration across departments and teams.
  • Act as a liaison between operational teams and senior leadership
  • Ensure all departments are reporting as required.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost control and resource optimization.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Keep abreast of changes in regulations that may impact operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in operations management, with a track record of success in improving processes and achieving operational efficiency.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align operations with organizational goals.

Working Conditions

  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required.
