As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Director People & Culture demonstrates the competencies & traits that support our Vision & Purpose: Innovative Change Leader; Team & Relationship Builder; Integrity & Authenticity; Resilient Leadership; and, Results-Driven Leader.

 

What We are Seeking:

Reporting to the CEO, you will be a key member of the SLT and an active contributor in executing Enova’s purpose, strategic vision & goals. As part of the SLT you demonstrably promote a high-performance culture, enhance leadership capabilities and ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, safety and regulations.

 

Working at Enova, you will influence organizational culture through effective communication and change management methodologies, and are responsible for the entire employee life cycle by developing and executing strategies aligned to recruitment, onboarding, career development, engagement and retention to continuously develop and build upon a high-performance culture.

 

We are seeking an experienced professional with a minimum of 10 years’ in a progressive senior leadership role and a minimum of 8 years’ of strategic HR management expertise.  You will have extensive experience in Talent & Labour Relations management and have a demonstrable track record of being a proactive Business Partner - whose values and competencies align with our talented team at Enova.  Further requirements to be considered are:

 

  • Diploma in HR Management or Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or equivalent required
  • Advanced knowledge of Ontario employment law including but not limited to ESA & Human Rights Code
  • Advanced experience working in a unionized environment, with direct accountability for negotiations and effective administration of Collective Agreements
  • Advanced knowledge of Operating Budgets consistent with corporate objectives
  • Experience in administration of benefit, pension plans and payroll
  • Advanced experience in providing sound and expert advice and coaching to leaders on operational people matters, risks, and trends
  • Experience developing & executing Talent Management, Labour and Employee Relations Strategies
  • Experience in developing and executing on DEI policies and initiatives

What You will Do:

  1. Strategic Planning & Expert Counsel: Provide short & long-term strategies relative to Employee Engagement, Talent Management & Employee/Labour Relations. Counsel and confer with the CEO and SLT on challenges, opportunities and situations that may impact the business.

 

  1. Talent Management: Actively partner with the business leaders to support and manage the design, development and implementation of people strategies that will attract, retain, engage and build upon a high-performance culture. Lead Enova’s focus on: investing in its people’s continued growth & development; building a positive & belonging culture; and collaborate with business leaders to identify metrics and data that provide powerful insights into managing their business units.

 

  1. Employee & Labour Relations: Develop and support the implementation of labour relations strategies and the negotiations Mandate, as well as lead the collective bargaining process. Manage complex workplace programs including performance improvement, succession planning, resource/workforce planning, disciplinary investigations and building a productive and harmonious working environment.

 

  1. Total Rewards: Direct and manage Enova’s total compensation, benefits and rewards programs and continually review best practice and market conditions to ensure Enova remains competitive and is favourably positioned against multiple markets. Responsible for the job evaluation process and maintaining Pay Equity. Oversee the payroll/benefits function and the management of WSIB and non-work-related medical claims.

 

  1. Performance Management: Manage the performance evaluation and incentive pay programs, ensuring the program(s) integrity and that all leaders are setting objectives and reasonable measures of success tied to both merit and incentive pay expectations. Continuously monitor and improve upon the interactive onboarding process for new hire.  Ensure compensation is administered in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

 

  1. Process Improvement: As a partner in innovation, you continually initiate, facilitate and participate in core business process improvements within the team and across the organization ensuring streamlined processes, reduction of costs and continual improvement & productivity. Develop and utilize key HR metrics and data analytics to make educated decisions that support effective recruitment, increase retention and boost engagement. Identify, analyze and review emerging people and culture policy issues and trends, review and interpret relevant areas of research and provide evidence-based and industry best practice recommendations.

 

  1. Safety & Well-Being: Provide demonstrable leadership and support Enova’s safety program and its holistic focus on employees’ mental & physical health and phycological safety.
