Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) : Reporting to the Manager, Electrical Systems, the electrical systems engineer is responsible for planningand directing the operation and maintenance of various aspects of the university’s power system,including: Emergency Life Safety Generators, electrical distribution equipment, power transformers, andcampus grounds lighting systems. The electrical systems engineer provides engineering services for projects undertaken by the Utilitiesand Building Operations division. The incumbent also provides engineering guidance for projects undertaken by capital project groups and property managers. The electrical systems engineer is responsible for the collection, display, analysis, and management of electrical energy data on campus. Additionally, the Electrical Systems Engineer is responsible for the following four major areas: Project review and Support
Reviews electrical designs, proposals and shutdowns from internal and external clients. Provides guidance and technical engineering expertise on these designs and plans from an operations and maintenance standpoint. Reviews and/or witnesses factory, acceptance, and commissioning data. Energy Management
Manages all electrical meters on campus, and ensures the data being collected is accurate and consistent with any changes on the electrical distribution system. Consolidates and analyzes monthly electrical consumption, demand, and cost data. Document/Records Management
Maintains electrical drawings, using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM software. Maintains records of maintenance activities relating to electrical distribution and emergency systems. Maintenance Management
The electrical systems engineer plans, executes, and evaluates the outcomes of electrical maintenance activities and takes corrective action where required for the safety of faculty, students, and staff; while maintaining the reputation economic interests of the university. EDUCATION:
University degree in Electrical Engineering with a license to practice in the Province of Ontario; registered and in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng). Project Management training is an asset. EXPERIENCE :
