Reporting to our Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager, E.S. Fox Limited is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our Tiverton, Ontario based team. We are seeking a dynamic leader that embraces this position with a 'beyond compliance' mindset with a vision of true world class performance and continuous improvement.

Summary of the Role:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for implementing, managing, monitoring, and enforcing the E.S. Fox Limited Health and Safety policies and programs. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager shall ensure safe working procedures and practices at the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the safety program and safety support staff of a busy site
  • Provide exemplary integrity and customer service, and establish trust with employees, customers, and the community
  • Understands and is committed to nuclear safety
  • Drive out fear and foster a strong culture of openness to change. Meaningful observations and coachings
  • Develop, promote, and maintain a Nuclear Safety / Health and Safety Management System including policies, programs and processes designed to identify hazards and assess the associated risks
  • Conduct audits, assessments, surveys, gap analyses and root cause analyses to identify behaviour deficiencies that create error-like conditions and recommend effective solutions
  • Public speaking - effectively communicates a consistent message expressing a systematic commitment to excellence
  • Develop and implement performance improvement solutions and other processes necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of training courses, material, and job aids
  • Responsible to monitor all aspects of the work to ensure Line Management is meeting the EH&S requirements including legislative, EH&S policy and procedures and site safety policies and procedures, when applicable
  • Responsible for OPEX, sharing lessons learned, trending and ensuring SCRs are shared.
  • Liaise with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained
  • Provide counsel to Company management on all EH&S related matters
  • Coordinate and attend on-site environmental health and safety meetings
  • Provide site Environmental Health and Safety training, and orientation to employees
  • Chair Environmental Health & Safety Committees, townhalls, Kaizen Events, etc.
  • Thoroughly investigate accidents/incidents and health and safety-related concerns
  • Complete Incident forms and work with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return-to-work and modified work programs
  • Generate EH&S statistics and provide regular reports to management and others as necessary
  • Perform weekly site inspections and monthly safety audits
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant EH&S related legislation, regulations and E.S Fox Limited Programs and Procedures
  • Ensure the management team is promptly apprised of any EH&S related issues and opportunities that may impact the stakeholders either positively or negatively
  • Ensures compliance with OHSA and all other relevant EH&S related legislation and regulations
  • Maintains records of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
  • Ensures compliance with OHSA and all other relevant EH&S related legislation and regulations

Key Requirements, Experience, and Skills:

  • Post-secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is recommended
  • NCSO certification
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred
  • Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations
  • Current CPR and First Aid training certification
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights
  • Practical experience in construction site Health & Safety
  • Experience in developing and monitoring modified work or light duty programs
  • Demonstrated experience with Return-to-Work Program
  • 5 - 10 years direct Safety supervisory experience
  • Environmental Health & Safety Practices, Policies and Procedures are diligently communicated and adhered to
  • High percentage of return to modified work
