The Forum Art Institute is seeking applications for the full-time position of Executive Director. The Executive Director of the Forum Art Institute works with the Board of Directors and oversees the day-to-day operations and staff. The Executive Director takes direct responsibility for Financial Management, Financial Planning, Grant Development, Bursary Management, Human Resource Planning and Community/Public Relations.

Term: 3 years Organizational Profile:

The Forum Art Institute(FAI) is a registered charitable organization dedicated to teaching art and spreading culture to the community. The Forum Art Institute endeavours to develop and encourage art appreciation, as well as the exploration and cultivation of artistic expression and an enhanced awareness of the impact of art on society. As a registered charitable organization, FAI provides this service to the community through various approaches of art instruction and awareness.

The Forum Art Institute was established in 1964 to provide educational and cultural enrichment for the art community in and around Manitoba.

The Executive Director is part of a dynamic team and takes overall responsibility for all aspects of management and direction of the Forum Art Centres services and programs and for the implementation of organizational strategic planning and development initiatives. These initiatives include policy and procedure development and implementation; supervision of human resources ; financial management; project design and development; capital projects, as well as marketing and fundraising.

Eligibility:

As a small team, the ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, productive and self-directed leader able to work cooperatively with others. Though a full-time position, this role has some flexibility in its delivery based on high and low-demand periods.
This position requires a strong combination of the following:

Qualifications:

The Executive Director leads the Registration Co-ordinator and facilities personnel together to support Forum Art Institute’s aims and objectives to focus and develop the Vision, Mission and Mandate through ongoing strategic planning, which includes:

  • organizational resilience (ensuring long-term viability)
  • outreach, connections and parameters (building community connections)
  • processes and protocols (guiding production and programming decisions)
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business Management or

experience/training equivalency Requirements

Experience with:

Skills in:

  • grant writing and working with funding agencies;
  • artist-run organizations, project implementation and events creation: working with other organizations towards a common goal;
  • working on or with a Board of Directors;
  • fundraising for operations, projects and capital needs;
  • leadership; hiring and managing employees
  • gallery presentation of solo and group exhibitions.
  • working for a registered charity
  • written, verbal and interpersonal communication;
  • advanced financial management, accounting, and budgeting;
  • advanced planning, problem-solving, decision-making and organization; the development and maintenance of positive relationships with artists, arts organizations and community, businesses and government leaders.

Remuneration

  • A salary range of $50,000-60,000, dependent on qualifications and experience, paid per year in bi-weekly installments, Vacation and benefits TBD. Salary review in 6 months.
  • This position will include a 1-month probationary period.
