ABOUT THE ROLE

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for all custodial duties in the Fire Hall, Public Works Garage, and other Town of Bridgewater or Public Service Commission of Bridgewater owned facilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Three years’ experience in a professional custodial position.

· Knowledge of disinfecting procedures as outlined by Health Canada (required).

· A combination of education and experience may also be considered.

· Valid WHMIS and Basic First Aid certification is required.

· A valid Nova Scotia Driver’s license is required.

· Ability to complete tasks independently with minimal supervision.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Strong work ethic and a positive team attitude.

· Ability to perform the physical demands of the position including but not limited to lifting, standing for extended periods, bending/crouching, etc.

Wages : $20.11 (as of April 1, 2024) in accordance with Schedule A of the collective agreement .

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. The incumbent will also be required to work a flexible schedule on occasion to accommodate operational demands (floor stripping/ refinishing, facility functions, etc.). This position will require the incumbent to have their own transportation to the different facilities as described above. Mileage will be paid per policy.
